Shell Summer Intern

The programs intern will learn how to design and implement programs. The intern will also assist in planning and executing a large benefit dinner. The intern will get exposure to all of the different operational roles in a small nonprofit. The position calls for a highly motivated, detail oriented, and creative individual who is an excellent communicator.

The primary responsibilities:

  • Participate in execution of annual benefit dinner
  • Assist with donor cultivation and stewardship
  • Attend weekly planning committee meetings and conduct event review with events team
  • Assist in implementation of new nonprofit software
  • Conduct analysis on program outcomes
  • Represent Amaanah at various community events
  • Prospect and grant research to expand donor base
  • Research models and approaches to after school programs, mentoring, and youth activities especially for refugee community
  • Compile and organize educational resources
  • Develop and write activities for after school programming programs
  • Prepare materials for the programs
  • Assist in planning logistics of academic year for after school programs

Skills Learned:

  • Understanding of the refugee community and refugee resettlement process
  • Exposure to nonprofit development and fundraising
    • Development Strategies, Donor Management Systems, Grant and Proposal Writing
    • In-depth understanding of nonprofit event management
    • Exposure to and understanding of a non-profit functioning
    • Relationship building, presentation and networking skills
    • Teamwork

Minimum Qualifications:

  • College student enrolled as full time sophomore or higher
  • Strong research and organizational skills
  • Effective communication, writing, and speaking skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to synthesize and summarize information
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with others
